Because of our unique business model, TMLT is committed to giving back to policyholders. With our financial rewards program — Trust Rewards — funds are set aside annually for eligible policyholders in their individual Trust Rewards accounts. The funds are distributed to policyholders at the time of retirement or other qualifying event.

With more than 20,000 health care professionals in its care, Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) provides malpractice insurance and related products to physicians. Our purpose is to make a positive impact on the quality of health care by educating, protecting, and defending physicians.
$195 MILLION ALLOCATED
We have allocated $195 million to the program since it began in 2012, and have paid $13.5 million in benefits to our Texas policyholders.
HELPING PHYSICIANS SAVE FOR RETIREMENT
Funds are distributed upon retirement after age 50 and 3 years of coverage with TMLT or at the time of other qualifying events. All contributions are tax-deferred and payout is in the form of a lump sum.
SIGN-ON BONUS
Physician groups receive a Trust Rewards Signing Bonus when they purchase a medical liability insurance policy from TMLT, then an allocation of funds each year upon renewal of the policy.
TMLT MATCHES OTHER PROGRAMS
TMLT works with new policyholder groups to match your previous carrier's loyalty program contributions.
RETENTION TOOL
The Trust Rewards account grows over time, and the program is often viewed by groups as a retention tool for their physicians.
AVAILABLE COVERAGES
MEDEFENSE will either reimburse or directly pay the legal expenses incurred by a physician from disciplinary proceedings, such as a review by a state licensing board or actions by a state or federal agency.
CYBER LIABILITY coverage offers protection for network security and privacy-related exposures, such as lost or stolen laptops or theft of patient data.
EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES LIABILITY INSURANCE (EPLI) protects against employment-related claims such as harassment, wrongful termination, and discrimination.
PREMISES LIABILITY coverage will pay compensatory damages for covered claims arising out of premises injury or damages to a patient.
MEDICAL DIRECTOR coverage protects physicians who are also serving in an administrative capacity as head of an organized medical staff. This coverage is available at a cost of $250 per policy period.
LOCUM TENENS coverage provides indemnity and defense coverage to a substitute physician who assumes responsibility for the policyholder’s patients during the scheduled absence.
